HowFreeIsThisNationWecallTheLandOfTheFree?

Part of the aim of this blog is to explore the limits of free expression. I have noticed lately just how limited free speech and expression is.
Anyone who is put-off by anything herein , please switch to another site, and away from here.
Anyhow, this blog really will serve as an adjunct of my 2 fanzines, my hobbies, my short-stories, and my commentary on life.
I saw in a list of influences for the band Auburn Lull, who I had just heard are excellent shoegaze, the genre of fuzzy, feedback guitars and buried, yet effective vocals, started, it is said, by Slowdive(of Reading, England) and My Bloody Valentine(of England) "abandoned factories and towns"; that sums up a large part of what this blog will focus on:industrial splendor, desolate, concrete landscapes, deserted buildings, something writer JG Ballard knew about well, he the best, the greatest writer of the 20th century.
Ballard got hassled for his free expression, and I know that the issue is tres-trivial, yet bothersome to some. Thorstein Veblen, the economic writer(The Engineers and the Price System, The Theory of The Leisure Class, The Nature of Peace, etc, circa 1917), wrote about a barbaric phase of society, prophetic for today even though he was discussing his time, the 1910s!
So here's to drained swimming pools, empty factories, ghostly plants, and fenced off industrial regions, where the future lies in wait, heavy and ominous. I do this blog for fellow spelunkers of concrete worlds and caked-with-soot catwalks to God knows where!!
